Man Utd is a powerful team,' says Barca coach Ernesto Valverde

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Barcelona  coach Ernesto Valverde says he is wary of "powerful"  Manchester United  ahead of the crunch first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Old Trafford on Wednesday 10th.  The two sides clash for the first time in Europe since the 2011 Champions League final at Wembley which the Catalans won 3-1.  "They are a powerful team. They are going through a good run, even if they lost their last match (against Wolves in the Premier League)," Valverde told  Sky Sports . "Physically they are really strong and they know how to put pressure on their opponents. They have players who are physically very powerful, and they can be dangerous strategically as well. "This match is a classic in European football. Barcelona have never won at Old Trafford I believe and we are going to try and change that."

Revealed: Paul Pogba's wage demands to Manchester United

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE Paul Pogba  reportedly wants a whopping £500,000-a-week to stay at  Manchester United  and  Real Madrid  links according to  The Sun .  Pogba, 26, currently earns £300,000 at Old Trafford, significantly less than the  £505,000 than United's highest earner Alexis Sanchez.  The reports further says that the club will do everything in their power to keep their star midfielder and have already open contract talks with the World Cup winner in a bid to fend off Real Madrid.  Pogba has publicly expressed his desire to join the La Liga giants and Zinedine Zidane is reportedly eyeing a move for him alongside Chelsea's Eden Hazard as part of his rebuilding. 

Barcelona midfielder could miss Manchester United clash

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has confirmed midfielder Ousmane Dembele could missChampions League quarter-final clash againstManchester United.  The Frenchman resumed training on Friday morning but Valverde has revealed the midfielder won't be available for selection when Barca takes on Atletico on Saturday 6th.  "He is not going to be available tomorrow and we do not know if he will be on Wednesday either," Valverde said of Dembele, who has not featured since March 13, in a press conference on Friday. "We don't want to risk him, either tomorrow or Wednesday and then have a bigger problem in the matches that are coming up. We will see how he is doing. For sure, tomorrow he will be out." Guardiola sends warning to Manchester United about Mata

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has warned Manchester United  they would lose an 'exceptional' player in  Juan Mata.  The Spaniard could leave the Red Devils on a free transfer at the end of the season if a new contract is not agreed. And Guardiola labelled Mata as an exceptional player admitting he has been a fan of the former Chelsea man. “He’s an exceptional player, one of the players I like the most. From the period in Valencia, at Barcelona  when I was there, we wanted to bring him but the problem was that we had a lot of midfield players that was the only problem," he said.  “But, he’s incredible, he played well for Chelsea and United and has a good restaurant in Manchester.”

Manchester United suffer another injury blow in international break

English Premier League Just after Luke Shaw picked up an injury with England, Manchester United have been dealt with another injury blow as Nemanja Matic has been ruled out of action for the coming international break. Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial have already withdrawn from the England and France squads respectively with injury, while Victor Lindelof pulled out of the Sweden squad for personal reasons. Romelu Lukaku also picked up an injury before joining his Belgium mates for internatinal duty and remains a big doubt for the games agaisnt Russia and Cyprus. Solskjaer provides an update on Man United's January transfers

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE M anchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he does not expect to see any departures from the club in the January transfer window. Several Manchester United players were linked with a move away from the club with Matteo Darmian rumored to be on the verge of joining Italian giants Inter Milan. Eric Bailly and Andreas Pereira were linked with moves to Arsenal while Juan Mata, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera, and Phil Jones are all approaching the last six months of their contract. Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of the Burnley clash on Tuesday, Solskjaer was asked if Darmian could leave the club, “At the moment I can see everyone staying at the club no deals have been done with anyone but there are still a few more days but I’m not too involved in the negotiations so whatever happens but it’ll be good to get the window closed an improving the players in the squad still here.”

Manchester United ace agrees move to Juventus

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE A fter featuring sparingly for Manchester United since last season, Juventus have offered Matteo Darmian a route out of the club with reports suggesting that the two parties have agreed terms over a transfer. The deal is reportedly a loan until the end of the season which will see the Italian champions pay €4m to United. Darmian is set to leave the club on a permanent basis at the end of the season with his contract set to expire and the club unwilling to offer him an extension. Juventus have reportedly turned to Darmian after a move for Chelsea's Emerson Palmieri failed. Darmian signed for United from Juventus' local rivals Torino in 2015 for a fee believed to be £12.7m but he never managed to secure a regular place in the starting eleven.  La Gazzetta  dello  Sport  claim that 'there is an agreement' between United and the Serie A giants that will see the 29-year old arrive in Turin in the 'next days'.

Solskjaer hints at midfielder starting against Arsenal

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE F ollowing his injury disruptions in recent times, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested that Alexis Sanchez could start in their FA Cup fourth-round tie at Arsenal. Sanchez’ only start under Solskjaer was in the FA Cup tie against Reading and he has not completed 90 minutes since the first game of the season against Leicester City. The Chilean appeared on the bench in the 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion over the weekend but was an unused substitute. Solskjaer hinted that Sanchez could start against his former side Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round, “He's obviously not 100 percent match fit. Because he's been out for quite a while. But possibly he'll be in the team in the FA Cup next week.” Manchester United travel to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal on Friday 25 th  January in a 10:55 PM kick off.
