Since Ed Woodward took over as Manchester United’s Chief Executive Officer, the club has signed the most expensive players in history.
Paul Pogba, Angel Di Maria, Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku and Fred are the stars acquired in record deals. Di Maria left for PSG after falling out with then boss Louis Van Gaal. Pogba and Martial fell out with Jose Mourinho at various stages during the Portuguese time at the club. Mourinho has since been sacked and life seems to flow seamlessly for the Frenchmen under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Midfield competitions have made it hard for Fred, acquired in the summer from Shakhtar Donetsk, with Nemanja Matic the most preferred candidate in central midfield. Lukaku was acquired from Everton to solve the club's striking issues and competes with the 21-year old Marcus Rashford.
