Paul Pogba faces a late fitness test ahead of their match against Liverpool. Sources from within Old Trafford have disclosed that the midfielder was unable to finish a training session, which was held at at United’s Carrington training ground on Friday, and thereafter had to be assessed by the club’s medics. It was further revealed that Pogba would undergo tests on Saturday morning to determine whether a gash that the midfield maestro suffered to his leg would rule him out of the fixture - a development which would undoubtedly be a huge blow for Jose Mourinho’s side. The English giants are, however, optimistic that the Frenchman will be cleared for the match since they could always use the creative spark the talisman provides when they square off against their attack-minded opponents

Manchester United have reportedly opened transfer talks Chelsea over a January swoop for David Luiz. The Brazilian centre-back has fallen out of favour with the Premier League champions following a row with boss Antonio Conte. He was kept out of the Chelsea side for 12 games before being included against Norwich in the FA Cup draw this weekend. And now, according to Caught Offside, Mourinho has begun talks with the Stamford Bridge club over a move for the former Paris Saint-Germain man. No fee has been agreed yet and it is thought that the recent spat between Mourinho and Conte could put the brakes on any transfer between the clubs.

Former Liverpool talisman Philippe Coutinho was presented as a Barca player on Monday 8 January after the S panish giants confirmed they were signing the Brazil international on Saturday afternoon in a £142m deal. However, according to Spanish transfer outlet  Don Balon , not everyone in the Nou Camp dressing room is pleased with Coutinho’s arrival. They claim Barca stars Andres Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic and Ousmane Dembele wanted Coutinho to join in the summer instead of this month. The Nou Camp trio do not want to be dropped ahead of the World Cup in Russia at the end of the season.  Don Balon  added that Iniesta and Rakitic have even threatened to quit Barca if their game time is reduced.

  Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly interested in acquiring Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon. English news outlet  Daily Mail  has claimed that the Parisians have joined the list of European teams who are monitoring the wonderkid, which also includes Spanish giants Real Madrid and English trio Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham. Sessegnon continues to garner the interest of top-tier clubs with his stellar outings for Fulham, evidenced by the brace the young Englishman scored in their recent 4-1 triumph over Ipswich, which the standout netted in the space of a few minutes. The 17-year-old’s killer form has now prompted Fulham to adjust the defender’s price tag to £30m - a figure which could skyrocket further should the interested parties spark a bidding war for the linchpin’s services.

Manchester United have invoked options to extend the contracts of Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young and Daley Blind until the end of next season. The quartet would have become free agents this summer but United have moved to secure the players’ immediate futures and bolster their transfer values by triggering clauses that extend their deals by a further 12 months to June 2019. United had already triggered the 12-month option in Luke Shaw’s contract before then with England left-back also contracted until at the end of next season. The players are understood to have received letters confirming the extensions. The longer-term futures of Mata, Blind, Young and Shaw are less clear but by invoking the clauses in the players’ deals United have avoided any immediate complications and given manager Jose Mourinho time to decide what he wants to do with the players.

The Borussia Dortmund star has once again  heavily linked with a move to England, but the Gunners boss insists he will not end up at the Emirates. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is Arsenal's first choice to replace Alexis Sanchez if the Chilean joins Manchester City. However, Wenger has no intention of making a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the January transfer window. Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing an ambitious move for Antoine Griezmann with the transfer window having reopened. The France international was close to joining the Red Devils in the summer, but Atleti’s failure to overturn a transfer ban urged the forward to stay put at the Wanda Metropolitano. According to The Express, Mourinho would prefer pursuing the services of Griezmann this month rather than waiting until the end of the season. Spanish giants Barcelona have recently emerged as front-runners for the Frenchman, but United could still pursue the versatile ace by triggering the £86m release clause in his contract. Jose Mourinho has urged Manchester United chiefs to launch a £50 million bid for Tottenham and England defender Danny Rose, according to reports. The 27-year-old  has been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford since last summer and Mourinho is ready to revive his interest this month. The left-back has become a key player for Spurs since signing from Leeds United in 2007, playing over 150 games for the club, but his future remains unclear. Rose suffered an injury setback in Tottenham’s Boxing Day victory over Southampton, with a minor knee injury expected to keep him sidelined for another three weeks. But Rose and United are not believed to be overly concerned and The Sun says Mourinho is attempting to persuade the club to launch a £50m offer for his services.   It is reportedly Italian side Juventus will sell Alex Sandro if they receive bids of £53 million next month. The Manchester United and Chelsea target is believed to be keen on leaving Juve for a Premier League switch next summer. According to reports, Sandro is likely to be granted his wish at the end of the season. But the 26-year-old could be on the move sooner than expected if Juventus receive acceptable bids in January. The current Serie A champs are apparently preparing for a mass clear-out after losing their dominant grip on the league. Regulars such as Stefano Sturaro and Kwadwo Asamoah are likely to be culled along with veteran Stephan Lichtsteiner while Gigi Buffon plans on retiring for good after the 2018 World Cup.

  Chelsea are leading the race to sign England international Ross Barkley from Everton during the January transfer window. Blues boss Antonio Conte was hoping to bring Barkley to Stamford Bridge last summer and launched a deadline day move to secure his signature. Barkley was interested in the switch but decided to turn Chelsea down as he wanted to regain his fitness before making such a major decision over his future. FIFA still has 21 vacant slots in its 34-sponsor World Cup program less than six months from the opening game in Moscow. - Mengniu becomes the official drinkable yogurt and pre-packaged ice-cream of the FIFA World Cup and the official milk and powdered milk of the FIFA World Cup for Greater China, FIFA confirms. A new third-tier category with 20 continental slots has found just one sponsor, Alfa-Bank of Russia. All World Cup sponsors to sign in the past five years are from China, Russia and 2022 host Qatar.
