Ajax proceed to semis after dumping Juventus out of Champions League


Ajax continued with their giant slaying campaign as they ousted Juventus following a 1-2 win at the Allianz Stadium to proceed to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League on a 2-3 aggregate.

Juventus took the lead in the 28th minute, a goal which gave them a commanding lead in the tie momentarily. Pjanic's corner was headed in by Cristiano Ronaldo for his 126th Champions League goal! But the referee Cl noement Turpin went had to check for the possibility of a foul and gave the goal after consulting VAR.
Ajax restored parity in the 33 rd minute after having some fine run of form away from home in the competition that saw them oust Real Madrid. A shot from outside the box deflected into the path of Van der Beek who took a touch before side-footing the ball into the Bott corner.
Ajax took the lead for the first time in the tie when Lasse Schone delivered an outswinger corner that was met by the head of Matthijs de Ligt who produced a low header into the ground and escaped the palms of Szczesny.
Ajax have now earned the status of being the dark horses in the competition after knocking out Juventus.
