This article looks to answer any questions you have regarding the NSFAS Login and accessing your myNSFAS portal.

Students who wish to pursue higher education but are financially strapped, usually search for scholarships as a means to further their education and reach their educational goals. If you have are in a similar situation, you can apply for bursaries, grants or scholarships.

There are grants you can apply for like the National Student Financial Aid Scheme or the NSFAS Funding. The NSFSA got founded through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme Act of 1999. The founders incorporated the NSFSA with it the Tertiary Education Fund of South Africa (TEFSA), which had stopped its operations in the year 2000.

Now, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme Act allows students to apply for financial assistance to attend public university or tvet colleges, whether in the form of a student loan or a bursary. There are, however, certain requirements that you must meet if you’re planning to apply for these grants.

Just like other applicants, you have to undergo a “needs test” that will review your current financial status to determine the amount of financial aid you will require and if you’re eligible for the NSFAS. The system is currently undergoing changes to make financial aid more accessible and available to more deserving students. It’s a great opportunity for undergraduate students looking to further their studies at a TVET college.

According to the most recent applicants of the NSFAS, they have found the application process to be both slow and complicated. Because of this, the system has come up with a plan, making it easier to see your application status and provide faster funding decisions. If you’re interested in applying to NSFAS, go through these FAQs to make the process much easier for you.
